just out for a walk...

THIS was Avery at the aquarium...which is why THIS will be Avery at the airport...

Yes, I am going to be one of those parents with my child on a leash.
I decided it was better than the alternative of chasing her nonstop through crowds of people!

swim lessons & park...

Avery started swim lessons today.
She is such a water baby & has no fear of the water...
She couldn't wait to get right in!After swim lessons we went to the park.
She had a great time!!!

busy body...

So, Avery has discovered some things in our backyard...
1. she can peek through the fence into the neighbors yard
2. the neighbors have a pool
3. she would REALLY like to get in that pool...
I LOVE this picture!

big shoes to fill...

Father's Day at the Aquarium

We saw Howler Monkeys...
a friendly bird...
{actually not so friendly, it snapped at Avery's finger immediatley after the picture was taken!}
lots of fish...
and a Jaguar...
{that Avery apparently thought she should ride!}
It was a fun and perfect Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day!

mommy & daddy's little helper...

Daddy was seasoning the steak & wrapping bacon around the shrimp, getting ready for the grill.
Mommy was seasoning the ahi and heating the pan to sear it.
Avery thought she should be helping too...
she grabbed the corn and {after getting the plastic wrap open!} began pulling the husks off the corn. I grabbed my camera and caught her in the action!

I guess she couldn't wait for it to go on the grill...

Happy her work was done...

and this is why we call her "little stinker"...
look at that face!

Distraction...playroom decorating!

So I got a little distracted from my quilt making...
I ordered this ADORABLE Michael Miller fabric {2-D Zoo in pool & multi} from my favorite fabric shop on etsy, Fabric Supplies. I just had to turn it into pillows for the playroom right away. I used this easy-peasy tutorial.I probably could have figured out the pillows on my own, but why go to that trouble when someone else has done the work for you!?

Notice I did use my new found quilting skills to create the patchwork pillows! I was trying to tie the colors of the two fabrics together, but I can't decide if I like them
...maybe they need giant buttons in the center??

Oh, I also made a cushion to go on this trunk that belonged to my great-grandfather. {also located in the playroom}
The fabric came from IKEA {the Elisabet collection} and has been sitting around for a while waiting for me to get motivated!!

More Quilt Along

So I'm about a week behind on the quilt along,
but I'm getting there slowly but surely...
I finally have all my strips sewn together and cut into blocks.
I completely understand now why quilts are so expensive!!!
Next step...
sewing these blocks together into rows,
and then sewing the rows together to make create my quilt top!

Today we took Avery to Founder's Plaza outside DFW airport.
You can watch the planes take off and land and can even hear the control tower.
Really neat!!
We went pretty early in the day, before the TX heat over took us!
